곡 소개
2019년 7월 남부 캘리포니아를 뒤흔든 리지크레스트 지진 직후, JP Saxe와 Julia Michaels가 처음 만난 그날 함께 쓰고 그 자리에서 녹음한 곡입니다. 같은 해 10월 발매돼 이듬해 팬데믹 봉쇄기와 맞물리며 크게 번졌고, 제63회 그래미 어워드 올해의 노래 후보에 올랐습니다.
곡은 헤어진 두 사람 사이의 가정법 하나로 굴러갑니다. 「세상이 끝난다면, 넌 와줄 거지?」 화자는 이 물음을 후렴마다 되풀이하는데, 지진 같은 재난 앞에서라면 둘을 갈라놓은 이유들이 전부 무의미해질 거라는 마음이 그 밑에 깔려 있습니다.
