퀸의 1991년 앨범 'Innuendo' 마지막 트랙이자, 프레디 머큐리 생전에 발표된 마지막 싱글입니다. 곡은 쇠약해져 가는 몸을 안고도 무대를 계속 이어 가겠다는 한 예술가의 의지를 정면으로 노래합니다.
화자는 속으로 마음이 무너지고 분장이 벗겨질지언정 미소만은 지우지 않겠다고 다짐합니다. 나비 날개처럼 물든 영혼과 어제의 동화 같은 이미지들을 지나, 결국 '쇼는 계속되어야 한다'는 한 문장으로 끝까지 나아가겠다는 각오를 밀어붙입니다.
곡은 주로 기타리스트 브라이언 메이가 썼습니다. 당시 머큐리는 자신의 병을 공개적으로 밝히지 않은 상태였고, 건강이 크게 악화돼 그 까다로운 고음을 소화할 수 있을지 우려가 컸습니다. 그러나 머큐리는 스튜디오에 들어가 단숨에 노래를 완성해 냈다고 전해집니다.
