곡 소개
『진격의 거인』 The Final Season Part 2의 오프닝 주제가입니다. 2022년 1월 9일부터 4월 4일까지 방영된 12화 분량, 통산 제76화부터 제87화 가운데 제76화부터 제86화까지의 오프닝으로 쓰였습니다.
제목의 럼블링은 작중 지명(地鳴らし), 곧 벽 속의 거인들이 땅을 울리며 진군하는 사태를 가리킵니다. 「Rumbling, Rumbling, it's coming」과 「Beware」가 경보음처럼 반복되는 사이로 한 사람의 목소리가 끼어듭니다. 옳은 일을 하고 싶었을 뿐 왕이 되고 싶지 않았다는 「I never wanted to be the king, I swear」, 네 목숨을 구하고 싶었을 뿐 칼을 쥐고 싶지 않았다는 「I never wanted to grab a knife, I swear」. 변명에 가까운 부인이 이어지지만 곧 「nobody knows what's inside of me」가 세 번 되풀이되면서, 그 부인은 화자 자신도 믿지 못하는 말로 바뀝니다.
「if I lose it all outside the wall / live to die another day」에서 벽 바깥이라는 단어가 나오는 순간 화자가 누구인지 분명해집니다. 텐트에서 밤을 새우는 아이들처럼 어리고 무지하고 무구했다며 바깥을 알고 싶었던 호기심을 그대로 남겨둔 채, 「how do you see me? am I who I used to be?」라고 묻는 대목이 이 곡에서 가장 아픈 지점입니다. 후렴은 모든 것을 잃고 미끄러져 넘어져도 결코 눈을 돌리지 않겠다고 버티지만, 그 다짐 뒤에 붙는 말은 「I don't want anything, I'm just here to...」로 끝내 문장을 완성하지 않습니다.
SiM은 2004년 쇼난에서 MAH를 중심으로 결성된 4인조로, 스스로를 레게 펑크 밴드라 부르며 하드코어와 스카를 뒤섞어 온 팀입니다. 작사는 MAH, 작곡과 편곡은 밴드 공동 명의입니다. TV 사이즈는 2022년 1월 10일, 풀 사이즈는 2월 7일에 공개되어 일주일 만에 1천만 스트리밍을 넘겼고, 미국 빌보드 핫 하드 록 송 차트에 3위로 진입한 뒤 1월 29일 자 차트에서 1위에 올랐습니다.
