지방의 어느 고등학교, 열일곱의 화자가 방과 후 홀로 지하철에 몸을 싣습니다. 향하는 곳은 「travelling somewhere ...nowhere...」 — 어디론가 가지만 결국 아무 데도 아닌 곳입니다. 친구들이 곧장 집으로 돌아가는 하굣길에, 화자만은 이름 없는 사람들을 구경하며 그 혼자만의 시간을 자기 것이라 부릅니다.
椎名林檎(시이나 링고)의 이 곡은 가사 전체가 영어로 쓰였습니다. 촘촘한 일본어 언어유희로 알려진 그가 열일곱이라는 나이를 굳이 남의 언어로 노래한 것은, 그 시절에 감상적으로 젖어들기보다 한 겹 거리를 두고 만지려는 태도로 읽힙니다.
