곡 소개
원 오크 록은 2012년 시작된 실사 영화 『바람의 검심』 시리즈의 주제가를 처음부터 전부 맡아왔습니다. 이 곡은 그 시리즈를 닫는 자리, 2021년 개봉한 『바람의 검심 최종장 The Final』의 주제가로 새로 쓰였습니다. 3월 10일 예고 영상과 함께 곡의 존재가 알려졌고 4월 16일 배포됐습니다.
제작 과정 자체가 화제였습니다. 이전부터 교류가 있던 에드 시런과의 공동 작곡으로, 2021년 2월 런던에 있는 에드의 개인 스튜디오에서 세션이 이뤄졌습니다. coldrain의 Masato도 제작에 참여했고 가사는 Taka가 썼습니다. 록킹온의 다카하시 토모키는 이 곡의 나른한 리듬과 어쿠스틱 기타 루프를 두고 이미 세계의 표준이 된 에드 특유의 편곡이라고 짚었습니다.
가사는 부서진 시스템에 대한 믿음을 잃은 자리에서 출발합니다. 「Got a fire in my soul / I've lost my faith in this broken system」, 그리고 스스로를 잊힌 세대라고 부릅니다. 불가능하다고 말할 때마다 저쪽이 세운 것은 허들과 벽과 장애물뿐이었다는 말이 이어지고, 곡 한가운데에서 딱 한 번 모국어가 튀어나옵니다. 「すり込まれ塗り重ねられた 嘘は僕等を飲み込んだ」, 주입되고 덧칠된 거짓이 우리를 삼켰다는 두 줄입니다. 후렴은 무너뜨리고 다시 세우는 일이 두렵지 않다고, 그것은 우리 운명이 아니라고, 우리가 그 반역자가 될 수 있다고 밀고 나갑니다. Taka는 이 곡을 두고 현상 유지는 절대 안 된다는 강한 의사 표시이며 앞으로의 각오를 적은 것이라고 말했습니다.
반응도 그 기세대로였습니다. 발매 첫 주 주말 집계만으로 빌보드 재팬 다운로드 송즈 1위로 데뷔해 2주 연속 1위를 지켰고, 종합 차트인 재팬 핫 100에서는 최고 4위, 스트리밍 송즈에서는 7위까지 올랐습니다. 이후 다운로드와 스트리밍 양쪽에서 일본레코드협회 골드 인정을 받았습니다. 노래방에 등록된 이 버전은 일본어 가사가 섞인 쪽이고, 같은 날 영어로만 부른 인터내셔널 버전도 함께 배포됐습니다. 두 버전 모두 2022년 앨범 『Luxury Disease』로 이어졌습니다.
